The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 15%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, strawberry exports dropped sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main destinations of strawberry exports from the Netherlands, together accounting for 64% of total exports. Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, France, Switzerland and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +27.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X), Belgium ($X) and the UK ($X) constituted the largest markets for strawberry exported from the Netherlands worldwide, together accounting for 59% of total exports. Norway, Ireland, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.
The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +21.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average strawberry export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -15.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 25%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
In 2022, approx. X tons of strawberries were imported into the Netherlands; growing by 6.4% on 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 23%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, strawberry imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Belgium (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of strawberry imports to the Netherlands, with a combined 90% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +4.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
