The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of preserved sweet corn exports from the Netherlands, together comprising 49% of total exports. Norway, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Ireland, Slovakia, Spain and Switzerland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 37%.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to France ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($X per ton) and Belgium ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of sweet corn prepared or preserved increased by 49% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 82% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, preserved sweet corn imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a buoyant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

France (X tons), China (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of preserved sweet corn imports to the Netherlands, with a combined 64% share of total imports. Hungary, Germany, Thailand and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.
