The average tomato export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 18% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the Netherlands
Tomato imports into the Netherlands rose rapidly to X tons in 2021, growing by 6.9% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, tomato imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Spain (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of tomato imports to the Netherlands, together accounting for 70% of total imports. Morocco, Tunisia and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Tunisia (with a CAGR of +49.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
