Germany (X units) was the main destination for water-skis and surfboards exports from the Netherlands, accounting for a 41% share of total exports. Moreover, water-skis and surfboards exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Belgium (X units), with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +27.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+21.9% per year) and Belgium (+16.4% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for water-skis, surfboards and sailboards exports from the Netherlands, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 5.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany amounted to +20.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+21.3% per year) and Spain (+27.4% per year).

The average water-skis and surfboards export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -7.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 33%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Imports into the Netherlands
After ten years of growth, overseas purchases of water-skis, surfboards and sailboards decreased by -22.2% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 65%. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, water-skis and surfboards imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 77% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest water-skis and surfboards supplier to the Netherlands, accounting for a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, water-skis and surfboards imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), more than tenfold. Sri Lanka (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +28.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+42.7% per year) and Sri Lanka (+35.6% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of water-skis, surfboards and sailboards to the Netherlands, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 4.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 4.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +28.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+31.5% per year) and Thailand (+12.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average water-skis and surfboards import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, reducing by -3% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while the price for Germany ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
