Chick Peas Market Size in New Zealand

The New Zealand chick peas market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after three years of decline. In general, the total consumption indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. Cook Islands (X tons) was the main destination for chick peas exports from New Zealand, accounting for a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, chick peas exports to Cook Islands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, India (X kg), fourfold. Solomon Islands (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 10% share.

In general, total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -14.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 46%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year.
