Fiji (X tons), Australia (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of computing machinery exports from New Zealand, together comprising 38% of total exports. These countries were followed by Hong Kong SAR, the Netherlands, the UK, Canada, Malaysia and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +49.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Australia ($X), Fiji ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest markets for computing machinery exported from New Zealand worldwide, with a combined 35% share of total exports. The Netherlands, Hong Kong SAR, the UK, Malaysia, Canada and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.

The average computing machinery export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 2.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 75%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof imported into New Zealand expanded remarkably to X tons, with an increase of 14% against 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight contraction. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, computing machinery imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of computing machinery to New Zealand, with a 47% share of total imports. Moreover, computing machinery imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X tons), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Vietnam (X tons), with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to -4.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+9.9% per year) and Vietnam (+1.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of computing machinery and parts and accessories thereof to New Zealand, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with a 3.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 2.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +2.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Australia (-7.2% per year) and Malaysia (-3.5% per year).

In 2021, the average computing machinery import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 16% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
