Over the period under review, total imports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, copper screw imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main suppliers of copper screw imports to New Zealand, together comprising 89% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +4.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of copper screws, bolts and nuts to New Zealand, comprising 51% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Taiwan (Chinese), with a 15% share.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a modest increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($X per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
