Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices to Fiji ($X per ton) and Australia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Papua New Guinea ($X per ton) and New Caledonia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+90.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after seven years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of egg products, when their volume decreased by -0.2% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, egg product imports expanded slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Italy (X tons), Australia (X tons) and Lithuania (X tons) were the main suppliers of egg product imports to New Zealand, with a combined 85% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Lithuania (with a CAGR of +812.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Italy ($X) constituted the largest supplier of egg products to New Zealand, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Australia ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 5.9% share.
