Singapore (X tons), New Caledonia (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main destinations of glass fibre mat exports from New Zealand, with a combined 62% share of total exports.

After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of glass fibre mats increased by 4.6% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a measured expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, glass fibre mat imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +5.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 61%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of glass fibre mat to New Zealand, accounting for a 52% share of total imports. Moreover, glass fibre mat imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), fivefold. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 31% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton.
