The third position in this ranking was held by Fiji (X units), with an 8.6% share.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Samoa ($X), with an 8.2% share of total exports. It was followed by Fiji, with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Australia amounted to +1.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Samoa (+7.2% per year) and Fiji (-7.4% per year).

The average mechanical shovel and excavator export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 33% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of mechanical shovels, excavators and shovel loaders increased by 95% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded strong growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, mechanical shovel and excavator imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Japan (X units), China (X units) and South Korea (X units) were the main suppliers of mechanical shovel and excavator imports to New Zealand, with a combined 79% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Italy and the UK, which together accounted for a further 16%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +61.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constituted the largest supplier of mechanical shovels, excavators and shovel loaders to New Zealand, comprising 44% of total imports.
