There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Fiji ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, millet imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +57.1% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, Australia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of millet to New Zealand, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, millet imports from Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), threefold. China (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Australia totaled -2.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+8.1% per year) and China (+3.2% per year).
In value terms, Australia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of millet to New Zealand, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 25% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 17% share.
