Fiji (X tons), Australia (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) were the main destinations of narrow woven fabric exports from New Zealand, with a combined 55% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Papua New Guinea, Romania, Cook Islands, New Caledonia, China, Sweden, Germany, French Polynesia, Tuvalu and Taiwan (Chinese), which together accounted for a further 33%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Tuvalu (with a CAGR of +106.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Australia ($X), Fiji ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X) were the largest markets for narrow woven fabric exported from New Zealand worldwide, with a combined 56% share of total exports. China, Romania, Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands, Sweden, Germany, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Tuvalu and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.
Tuvalu, with a CAGR of +98.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average narrow woven fabric export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -20.3% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, narrow woven fabric export price decreased by -31.6% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 56%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to New Caledonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of narrow woven fabrics increased by 23% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after four years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight descent. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, narrow woven fabric imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a mild descent. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of narrow woven fabric to New Zealand, accounting for a 42% share of total imports. Moreover, narrow woven fabric imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), with an 8.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to -1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-7.2% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.7% per year).

In 2021, the average narrow woven fabric import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 8.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 26%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
