In 2022, perfume imports into New Zealand shrank to X tons, dropping by -8.5% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 69% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, perfume imports rose remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

France (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of perfume imports to New Zealand, with a combined 76% share of total imports.
