Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 2,765%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, recovered paper imports declined markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 577%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main suppliers of recovered paper imports to New Zealand, with a combined 90% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +135.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of recovered paper to New Zealand, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 21% share.
