In value terms, Australia ($X) remains the key foreign market for safety glass exports from New Zealand, comprising 96% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 32% share of total exports. It was followed by Fiji, with a 4.2% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Australia amounted to +11.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+14.8% per year) and Fiji (-0.8% per year).

In 2021, the average safety glass export price amounted to $X per square meter, with a decrease of -10.7% against the previous year. In 2022, the amount of safety glass imported into New Zealand fell to X square meters, which is down by -1.8% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, showed a pronounced increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 117%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X square meters; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
In value terms, safety glass imports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
