Cote d'Ivoire (X units) was the main destination for ball exports from Nigeria, with a 55% share of total exports. Moreover, ball exports to Cote d'Ivoire exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Benin (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by South Africa (X units), with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Cote d'Ivoire totaled +47.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Benin (+33.4% per year) and South Africa (-11.8% per year).
In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) remains the key foreign market for balls exports from Nigeria, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Benin, with a 6.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Cote d'Ivoire amounted to +48.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Africa (+0.3% per year) and Benin (+33.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average ball export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 25% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 107%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Burkina Faso ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cameroon (+41.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of balls increased by 856% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
In value terms, ball imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a notable increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

South Korea (X units), the United States (X units) and the Philippines (X units) were the main suppliers of ball imports to Nigeria, with a combined 43% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for South Korea (with a CAGR of +67.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, South Korea ($X), China ($X) and Indonesia ($X) were the largest ball suppliers to Nigeria, together accounting for 60% of total imports.

Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average ball import price amounted to $X per unit, waning by -19.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ball import price decreased by -25.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while the price for Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
