In value terms, concentrated apple juice exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a dramatic shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 211%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Antigua and Barbuda (X tons) was the main destination for concentrated apple juice exports from Nigeria, accounting for a 69% share of total exports. Moreover, concentrated apple juice exports to Antigua and Barbuda exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ghana (X tons), threefold.

In value terms, Ghana ($X) remains the key foreign market for concentrated apple juice exports from Nigeria, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Antigua and Barbuda ($X), with a 20% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Ghana stood at -35.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Antigua and Barbuda (-37.4% per year) and Senegal (-24.6% per year).

The average concentrated apple juice export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -11.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 45%. In 2021, purchases abroad of concentrated apple juice decreased by -49.2% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 217% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank notably in the following year.

In value terms, concentrated apple juice imports fell notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 203% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Germany (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of concentrated apple juice to Nigeria, with a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, concentrated apple juice imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, France (X tons), eightfold. The Netherlands (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +19.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+67.5% per year) and the Netherlands (+13.5% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of concentrated apple juice to Nigeria, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 4% share of total imports. It was followed by South Africa, with a 1.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany stood at +34.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+56.5% per year) and South Africa (-6.8% per year).
