Exports by Country
Benin (X tons) was the main destination for exports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances from Nigeria, with a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances to Benin exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ghana (X kg), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Niger (X kg), with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Benin stood at +45.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ghana (-2.3% per year) and Niger (+3.4% per year).
In value terms, Benin ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances exports from Nigeria, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Niger ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Benin stood at +49.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Niger (+10.5% per year) and the United States (+13.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average export price for domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 241% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Niger ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ghana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into Nigeria
In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances, when their volume decreased by -41.5% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 164% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances declined sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a tangible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Australia (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances to Nigeria, with a combined 88% share of total imports. These countries were followed by India, the UK, the United States and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 5.8%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +24.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), China ($X) and Australia ($X) appeared to be the largest domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliance suppliers to Nigeria, with a combined 87% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the UK, India, the United States and Singapore, which together accounted for a further 5.1%.
The UK, with a CAGR of +22.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for domestic, non-electric, cooking or heating appliances stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted a tangible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 124%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the price for the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+20.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
