Macao SAR (X tons) was the main destination for fish parts exports from Nigeria, with a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, fish parts exports to Macao SAR exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Hong Kong SAR (X tons), threefold.

In value terms, the largest markets for fish parts exported from Nigeria were Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Macao SAR ($X).

In 2022, the average fish parts export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 160%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Macao SAR totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+20.6%).

In 2022, overseas purchases of fish heads, tails and maws decreased by -21% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after six years of growth. Overall, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 136% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fish parts imports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 123% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Iceland (X tons), Norway (X tons) and Faroe Islands (X tons) were the main suppliers of fish parts imports to Nigeria, with a combined 92% share of total imports.
From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Faroe Islands (with a CAGR of +51.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Iceland ($X), Norway ($X) and Faroe Islands ($X) were the largest fish parts suppliers to Nigeria, with a combined 91% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Faroe Islands, with a CAGR of +14.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fish parts import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -9.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 9% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from China ($X per ton) and the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Norway ($X per ton) and Faroe Islands ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iceland (-19.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
