As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, industrial stearic acid imports reduced markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 339% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

In 2021, Gabon (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of industrial stearic acid to Nigeria, with a 34% share of total imports. Moreover, industrial stearic acid imports from Gabon exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Indonesia (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Malaysia (X tons), with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Gabon was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+3.9% per year) and Malaysia (+3.7% per year).

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 28% against the previous year.
