Benin (X units) was the main destination for semiconductor LED exports from Nigeria, accounting for a 90% share of total exports. Moreover, semiconductor LED exports to Benin exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Niger (X units), tenfold.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 68% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Niger ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Benin amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Niger (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Nigeria
In 2021, supplies from abroad of semiconductor light emitting diodes (LEDs) decreased by -78.5% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 149%. Imports peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, semiconductor LED imports shrank notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 173%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of semiconductor LED to Nigeria, accounting for a 79% share of total imports. Moreover, semiconductor LED imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X units), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia (X units), with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -1.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+35.3% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+13.6% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of semiconductor light emitting diodes (LEDs) to Nigeria, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 4.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a 3.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to -1.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+30.0% per year) and Spain (+16.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average semiconductor LED import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per unit), while the price for India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
