Exports in Northern America

After four years of decline, shipments abroad of carob increased by 59% to X tons in 2022. Total exports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -27.6% against 2017 indices. The United States was also the fastest-growing in terms of the carob exports, with a CAGR of +15.2% from 2012 to 2022. In value terms, carob imports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 154%. The United States dominates imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 95% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Canada (X tons), committing a 5% share of total imports.

The United States was also the fastest-growing in terms of the carob imports, with a CAGR of +17.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Canada (+6.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of the United States (+8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Canada (-7.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
