Candied Fruit Market Size in Northern America
For the eighth consecutive year, the North American candied fruit market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 0.3% to $X in 2021. Overall, consumption, however, showed a resilient expansion. The level of consumption peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2021, shipments abroad of candied fruits increased by 7% to X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, candied fruit exports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 13%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. The shipments of the one major exporters of candied fruits, namely the United States, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
The United States was also the fastest-growing in terms of the candied fruits exports, with a CAGR of -2.0% from 2012 to 2021. The United States (+4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) also remains the largest candied fruit supplier in Northern America.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United States stood at -2.2%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Northern America amounted to $X per ton, declining by -1.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

Imports in Northern America
In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of candied fruits, when their volume increased by 17% to X tons. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, candied fruit imports amounted to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The United States represented the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which finished at 81% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Canada (X tons), creating an 18% share of total imports.

The United States (-1.8 p.p.) significantly weakened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United States ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported candied fruits in Northern America, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Canada ($X), with a 15% share of total imports.
