In 2021, the United States (X tons) represented the major exporter of refined maize (corn) oil, mixing up 89% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Canada (X tons), making up an 11% share of total exports.
Exports from the United States decreased at an average annual rate of -10.0% from 2012 to 2021. Canada (-6.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Canada (+3.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United States saw its share reduced by -3.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the largest refined maize oil supplier in Northern America, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Canada ($X), with a 9.5% share of total exports.
In the United States, refined maize oil exports shrank by an average annual rate of -8.9% over the period from 2012-2021.

The export price in Northern America stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 43% against the previous year. Export price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last nine-year period. In 2021, overseas purchases of refined maize (corn) oil increased by 4% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, refined maize oil imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The purchases of the two major importers of refined maize (corn) oil, namely the United States and Canada, represented more than two-thirds of total import.
