The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 54% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Poland (X units), Sudan (X units) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units) were the main destinations of agricultural and forestry tractor exports from Norway, with a combined 58% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark, Romania, Ghana, Finland and Germany, which together accounted for a further 34%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +31.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Sweden ($X) and Lithuania ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for agricultural and forestry tractor exported from Norway worldwide, together accounting for 46% of total exports.
Lithuania, with a CAGR of +48.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Norway
In 2021, overseas purchases of agricultural and forestry tractors increased by 4.5% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 5.9% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, agricultural and forestry tractor imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Germany (X units), France (X units) and Finland (X units) were the main suppliers of agricultural and forestry tractor imports to Norway, with a combined 65% share of total imports. Italy, India, the UK, Sweden, Denmark, the United States, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 31%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +24.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of agricultural and forestry tractors to Norway, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Finland, with a 13% share.
