Sweden (X units), Spain (X units) and Estonia (X units) were the main destinations of baby garment exports from Norway, together comprising 72% of total exports. China, Portugal, Iceland, France, Germany, Lithuania, the UK and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Portugal (with a CAGR of +115.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average baby garment export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -21.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+30.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Norway
For the sixth year in a row, Norway recorded decline in purchases abroad of babies’ garments and clothing accessories (knitted or crocheted), which decreased by -6.6% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 6.3% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, baby garment imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Bangladesh (X units) constituted the largest supplier of baby garment to Norway, accounting for a 47% share of total imports. Moreover, baby garment imports from Bangladesh exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X units), twofold. India (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Bangladesh stood at +2.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-14.3% per year) and India (+1.2% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Bangladesh ($X) and India ($X) appeared to be the largest baby garment suppliers to Norway, together accounting for 72% of total imports. Turkey, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 10%.
Sri Lanka, with a CAGR of +8.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average baby garment import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 22% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the price for Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
