Poland (X tons) was the main destination for dry vegetable exports from Norway, accounting for a 70% share of total exports. Moreover, dry vegetable exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Sweden (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Czech Republic (X kg), with a 4.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Poland stood at +8.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Sweden (+30.2% per year) and the Czech Republic (-22.6% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X), Sweden ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for dry vegetable exported from Norway worldwide, with a combined 81% share of total exports. The UK, Germany and Denmark lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.
The UK, with a CAGR of +70.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 81%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2021, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+21.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of dry vegetables decreased by -12.8% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, dry vegetable imports contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 16%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest dry vegetable supplier to Norway, with a 39% share of total imports. Moreover, dry vegetable imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (X tons), with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +12.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+0.8% per year) and India (+5.7% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Spain ($X) and India ($X) appeared to be the largest dry vegetable suppliers to Norway, together comprising 65% of total imports. Germany, Turkey, the Netherlands, France, the United States and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +10.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average dry vegetable import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 9.9% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
