For the fourth year in a row, the Norwegian lamp holder market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 23% to $X in 2022. Overall, the total consumption indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +78.9% against 2016 indices. The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, lamp holder exports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 30%. In value terms, Sweden ($X) remains the key foreign market for lamp holders, plugs and sockets exports from Norway, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Finland ($X), with a 4% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 3.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Sweden amounted to +6.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Finland (+0.0% per year) and China (+2.1% per year).

In 2021, the average lamp holder export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -2.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of lamp holders, plugs and sockets increased by 15% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +50.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In value terms, lamp holder imports declined modestly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of lamp holder to Norway, with a 0.4% share of total imports. Moreover, lamp holder imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 0.1% share.
