The Norwegian piano market skyrocketed to $X in 2021, rising by 16% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 171% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, piano exports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 119% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for piano exports from Norway, accounting for a 54% share of total exports. Moreover, piano exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Uganda (X tons), threefold. Sweden (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland totaled +24.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uganda (+45.1% per year) and Sweden (-5.7% per year).

In value terms, Sweden ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest markets for piano exported from Norway worldwide, with a combined 53% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the United States, the Netherlands, Uganda and Congo, which together accounted for a further 9.2%.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Overall, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 9.4%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), Japan (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the main suppliers of piano imports to Norway, with a combined 63% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, Denmark, India, China, the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Austria and Poland, which together accounted for a further 21%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Ireland (with a CAGR of +99.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
