Potato Market Size in Norway

After two years of growth, the Norwegian potato market decreased by -13.5% to $X in 2021. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons) was the main destination for potato exports from Norway, accounting for a 92% share of total exports. Moreover, potato exports to the Netherlands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Russia (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the Netherlands totaled +41.3%.

In value terms, Russia ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for potato exported from Norway worldwide.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Denmark (X tons), Israel (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of potato imports to Norway, with a combined 81% share of total imports.
