The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +88.7% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 32%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +77.2% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.

Spain (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of pyrethrum and peppermint imports to Norway, together accounting for 46% of total imports. These countries were followed by India, Turkey, Cambodia, Kenya, Denmark, Egypt, Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands and Ethiopia, which together accounted for a further 38%.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the price for Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
