Slate Market Size in Norway

The Norwegian slate market contracted to $X in 2021, which is down by -11.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a prominent increase. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Finland (X tons) was the main destination for slate exports from Norway, accounting for a 46% share of total exports. Moreover, slate exports to Finland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Denmark (X tons), twofold. In 2021, slate imports into Norway surged to X tons, increasing by 64% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports recorded noticeable growth. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In general, total imports indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine-year period.
