In 2022, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of suspension systems, when their volume decreased by -18.9% to X tons. In general, total imports indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, suspension system imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +4.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of suspension system imports to Norway, together accounting for 52% of total imports. Poland, Latvia, South Korea, Turkey, Belgium, the United States, Japan, Spain, the Netherlands and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Latvia (with a CAGR of +131.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of suspension systems to Norway, comprising 27% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+30.8% per year) and China (+19.7% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
