For the third year in a row, the Norwegian urea market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 288% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption saw a prominent expansion. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Urea imports into Norway soared to X tons in 2022, increasing by 221% against 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a resilient increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, urea imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a buoyant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) were the main suppliers of urea imports to Norway, together accounting for 52% of total imports. Poland, China and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 3%.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
