Iceland, with a CAGR of +36.7%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, the average wood charcoal export price amounted to $X per ton, falling by -5.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, posted noticeable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 107% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Iceland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, approx. X tons of wood charcoal were imported into Norway; reducing by -13.4% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, wood charcoal imports stood at $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Poland (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of wood charcoal imports to Norway, with a combined 87% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Brazil, Denmark and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8.5%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +134.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Poland ($X), Indonesia ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the largest wood charcoal suppliers to Norway, with a combined 85% share of total imports.
