In value terms, wrapping papers exports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 13%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X tons), Sweden (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of wrapping papers exports from Norway, together accounting for 42% of total exports. Imports into Norway
In 2021, supplies from abroad of wrapping paper, packaging paper and paperboard decreased by -15.9% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 31%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then dropped notably in the following year.
In value terms, wrapping papers imports amounted to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Sweden (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of wrapping papers to Norway, with a 64% share of total imports. Moreover, wrapping papers imports from Sweden exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Denmark (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the Czech Republic (X tons), with a 4.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Sweden stood at +2.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Denmark (+8.9% per year) and the Czech Republic (+0.3% per year).

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Sweden amounted to +3.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Denmark (+7.7% per year) and Germany (+0.2% per year).
