The Netherlands (X tons) was the main destination for yoghurt exports from Norway, with a 94% share of total exports. Moreover, yoghurt exports to the Netherlands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Austria (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Netherlands totaled +54.2%.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the key foreign market for yoghurt exports from Norway, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with a 2.1% share of total exports.

In 2022, the average yoghurt export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria stood at $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+22.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Norway
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of yoghurt decreased by -6% to X tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, yoghurt imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +33.3% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 102% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
Greece (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of yoghurt imports to Norway, with a combined 35% share of total imports. Belgium, Slovenia, Denmark, Sweden and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +61.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Greece ($X), Poland ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest yoghurt suppliers to Norway, with a combined 35% share of total imports. Belgium, Slovenia, Denmark, Sweden and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
Belgium, with a CAGR of +77.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average yoghurt import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, reducing by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, yoghurt import price increased by +53.8% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 47% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+18.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
