The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 46%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, breakfast cereal exports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) were the main destinations of breakfast cereal exports from Oman, with a combined 91% share of total exports. Bahrain, Yemen and Somalia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 7.8%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Yemen (with a CAGR of +96.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Qatar ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for breakfast cereal exported from Oman worldwide, together comprising 91% of total exports. Bahrain, Somalia and Yemen lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7.9%.

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of breakfast cereals, when their volume decreased by -12.6% to X tons. In general, total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +53.7% against 2013 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, breakfast cereal imports contracted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +29.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of breakfast cereal to Oman, with a 40% share of total imports. Moreover, breakfast cereal imports from the United Arab Emirates exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Sri Lanka (X tons), threefold. India (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United Arab Emirates totaled +9.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sri Lanka (+39.9% per year) and India (+12.1% per year).
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constituted the largest supplier of breakfast cereal to Oman, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Spain ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 5.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the United Arab Emirates amounted to +19.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+4.8% per year) and Turkey (+3.2% per year).

In 2021, the average breakfast cereal import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.6% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 13%.
