Imports into Oman
In 2022, carrot and turnip imports into Oman declined to X tons, leveling off at 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 35%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, carrot and turnip imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +88.4% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. China (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) were the main suppliers of carrot and turnip imports to Oman, together comprising 85% of total imports. Iran, Australia and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 11%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Iran (with a CAGR of +55.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), China ($X) and Australia ($X) appeared to be the largest carrot and turnip suppliers to Oman, together accounting for 85% of total imports. Egypt, Singapore and Iran lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 6.5%.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 18%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the price for Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
