Other Cereals Market Size in Oman

In 2021, the Omani other cereals market decreased by -3% to $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, consumption, however, showed a prominent increase. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then declined slightly in the following year.

From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, other cereals exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 222% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main destination for other cereals exports from Oman, with a 87% share of total exports. Moreover, other cereals exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tanzania (X tons), more than tenfold. Qatar (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Saudi Arabia stood at +27.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tanzania (0.0% per year) and Qatar (-10.9% per year).

In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for other cereals exports from Oman, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Qatar ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Tanzania, with a 1.1% share.

In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 482% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In value terms, other cereals imports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 392%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

Iran (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) were the main suppliers of other cereals imports to Oman, together accounting for 98% of total imports.
