Other Cereals Market Size in Oman
In 2021, the Omani other cereals market decreased by -3% to $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, consumption, however, showed a prominent increase. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then declined slightly in the following year.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 345% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, other cereals exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 222% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Saudi Arabia (X tons) was the main destination for other cereals exports from Oman, with a 87% share of total exports. Moreover, other cereals exports to Saudi Arabia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tanzania (X tons), more than tenfold. Qatar (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Saudi Arabia stood at +27.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tanzania (0.0% per year) and Qatar (-10.9% per year).
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for other cereals exports from Oman, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Qatar ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Tanzania, with a 1.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Saudi Arabia stood at -5.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (-21.2% per year) and Tanzania (0.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average other cereals export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -18.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 49%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Tanzania ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Yemen (-7.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was decline in purchases abroad of other cerealses, when their volume decreased by -1.7% to X tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 482% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then declined slightly in the following year.
In value terms, other cereals imports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 392%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
Iran (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) were the main suppliers of other cereals imports to Oman, together accounting for 98% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Iran (with a CAGR of +660.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest other cereals suppliers to Oman were Iran ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Yemen ($X), with a combined 93% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, Iran, with a CAGR of +304.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average other cereals import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -5.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 78% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Yemen ($X per ton), while the price for Kenya ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Yemen (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
