Yemen (X tons) was the main destination for cheese and curd exports from Oman, accounting for a 79% share of total exports. Moreover, cheese and curd exports to Yemen exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Qatar (X tons), fivefold. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.3% share.

Imports into Oman
After five years of growth, overseas purchases of cheese and curd decreased by -4.5% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
In value terms, cheese and curd imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +99.6% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
Denmark (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main suppliers of cheese and curd imports to Oman, together accounting for 67% of total imports. Egypt, Germany, Bahrain and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.
