Yemen (X tons) was the main destination for cheese exports from Oman, accounting for a 70% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 9.2% share.

In value terms, Yemen ($X) remains the key foreign market for cheese exports from Oman, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Qatar ($X), with a 27% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Yemen totaled +38.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Qatar (+17.5% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (-7.6% per year).

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was decline in supplies from abroad of cheese, when their volume decreased by -0.1% to X tons. In general, imports continue to indicate a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cheese imports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
Imports by Country
Denmark (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of cheese imports to Oman, together accounting for 66% of total imports. These countries were followed by Egypt, Germany, the United States and Bahrain, which together accounted for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of +24.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest cheese suppliers to Oman were Saudi Arabia ($X), Denmark ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a combined 66% share of total imports. Egypt, Bahrain, the United States and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 19%.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 43%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
