For the tenth consecutive year, the Omani coffee extract market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 2.5% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption saw a buoyant expansion. Coffee extract consumption peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, coffee extract production fell to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, posted a resilient increase. Exports from Oman
After two years of growth, shipments abroad of coffee extracts, essences and concentrates decreased by -7.6% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 889%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, coffee extract exports reduced remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 723% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2020, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Qatar (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) were the main destinations of coffee extract exports from Oman, together accounting for 97% of total exports. These countries were followed by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iran, which together accounted for a further 2%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +105.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Qatar ($X) and Yemen ($X) were the largest markets for coffee extract exported from Oman worldwide, with a combined 98% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iran, which together accounted for a further 1.3%.
Kuwait, with a CAGR of +49.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The average coffee extract export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -9.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, coffee extract export price decreased by -14.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average export price increased by 62%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+21.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Oman
Coffee extract imports into Oman rose notably to X tons in 2021, growing by 11% compared with 2020. Overall, imports enjoyed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 83%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, coffee extract imports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 61%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Thailand (X tons), Iran (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of coffee extract imports to Oman, with a combined 62% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, China and India, which together accounted for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +59.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest coffee extract suppliers to Oman were Iran ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Brazil ($X), together accounting for 54% of total imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Malaysia, China, Vietnam and India, which together accounted for a further 19%.
China, with a CAGR of +56.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average coffee extract import price amounted to $X per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 16% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Iran ($X per ton), while the price for Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
