Qatar (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main destinations of copper tube and pipe exports from Oman.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Qatar ($X) were the largest markets for copper tube and pipe exported from Oman worldwide.

Over the period under review, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, copper tube and pipe export price decreased by -47.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+3.2%).
Imports of Copper Tubes And Pipes
Imports into Oman
For the third consecutive year, Oman recorded decline in purchases abroad of copper tubes and pipes, which decreased by -5.3% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 29%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, copper tube and pipe imports rose notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), South Africa (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of copper tube and pipe imports to Oman, with a combined 70% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, South Korea, the UK, Iran, Australia and China, which together accounted for a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the United States (with a CAGR of +25.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), South Africa ($X) and India ($X) constituted the largest copper tube and pipe suppliers to Oman, with a combined 65% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the United States, South Korea, the UK, Iran, Australia and China, which together accounted for a further 26%.
The United States, with a CAGR of +21.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average copper tube and pipe import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 17% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 20%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
