From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Qatar totaled +97.5%.

In 2022, the average precious stone and pearl export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -42.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 936% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Qatar (+79.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Cultured Pearls, Precious Or Semi-Precious Stones
Imports into Oman
In 2022, the amount of cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones imported into Oman dropped notably to X tons, shrinking by -30% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 1,184%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, precious stone and pearl imports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 396% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) were the main suppliers of precious stone and pearl imports to Oman, together accounting for 82% of total imports. Brazil lagged somewhat behind, comprising a further 16%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Brazil (with a CAGR of +38.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones to Oman, comprising 20% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 6.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Yemen, with a 0.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Thailand totaled +94.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (+17.7% per year) and Yemen (+25.5% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while the price for Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
