After six years of growth, the Omani plastic tableware and kitchenware market decreased by -5.1% to $X in 2022. Overall, consumption, however, saw strong growth. Plastic tableware and kitchenware consumption peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In 2022, overseas shipments of plastic tableware and kitchenware were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a significant curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 87%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic tableware and kitchenware exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Yemen (X tons), Somalia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main destinations of plastic tableware and kitchenware exports from Oman, with a combined 55% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Somalia (with a CAGR of +23.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Yemen ($X), Somalia ($X) and Bahrain ($X) constituted the largest markets for plastic tableware and kitchenware exported from Oman worldwide, together accounting for 45% of total exports. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Liberia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, the amount of plastic tableware and kitchenware imported into Oman contracted slightly to X tons, shrinking by -2.9% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
