Egg Product Market Size in Oman

In 2021, the Omani egg product market decreased by -16.1% to $X for the first time since 2013, thus ending a seven-year rising trend. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of egg products, when their volume increased by 9.8% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 57% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, egg product imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

India (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main suppliers of egg product imports to Oman, with a combined 61% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
