Bangladesh (X tons), Cameroon (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen whole fish exports from Oman, with a combined 44% share of total exports. These countries were followed by India, Thailand, Egypt, Cote d'Ivoire, Benin, Togo, Bahrain, Malaysia, Liberia and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 45%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Togo (with a CAGR of +411.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for frozen whole fish exported from Oman were Cameroon ($X), Thailand ($X) and Bangladesh ($X), together accounting for 40% of total exports. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of frozen whole fish was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, frozen whole fish imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 93%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Yemen (X tons), Myanmar (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of frozen whole fish imports to Oman, with a combined 79% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, India, Djibouti, Pakistan, Indonesia and Somalia, which together accounted for a further 16%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Djibouti (with a CAGR of +69.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest frozen whole fish suppliers to Oman were Yemen ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Myanmar ($X), together comprising 82% of total imports.
