Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 116%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, gypsum and anhydrite imports shrank modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a notable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 124%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then contracted slightly in the following year.

The United Arab Emirates (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the main suppliers of gypsum and anhydrite imports to Oman, together accounting for 79% of total imports. Iran and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 21%.
