In 2021, the amount of insecticides imported into Oman skyrocketed to X tons, rising by 62% against 2020 figures. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt decline. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, insecticide imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 61% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), India (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of insecticide imports to Oman, with a combined 51% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Singapore, China, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Hong Kong SAR, Egypt, France, Germany and Spain, which together accounted for a further 37%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +104.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
